We would like to introduce you to Yeddu Narrama.  Narrama was born in a village named Katurvalpalem.  She was married at the age of 13.  She worked daily in the field while trying to raise four children.  Her husband became ill and died of cancer.  Instead of receiving love and support from her children, she was rejected and shunned. They supported her for a while then totally turned their backs on her.  She can no longer work in the fields so she began to call on relatives for help.  They too rejected her and refused to help her.  She now has to beg in the streets to fill her stomach.  She is physically weak and suffering from severe joint pain.  She is in need of medical attention with no one to help her.
Please meet Dasari Appayamma (Santosamma).  Appayamma was born in a village Matchavarialam.  She was married at the age of 15.  She worked hard to raise her four children and tend to the house.  Then ten years ago, her husband died.  Her children were still at home and took over the house.  They told their mother that she would have to work for her food.  So she did.  As time passed she became old and weak, and unable to work, so her children "threw her away."  In India it is commonly said,"old age is a curse."

Appayamma now has no place to live.  She currently resides under the trees and begs for food.  She has severe arthritis and her eyesight is failing.  She is also partially deaf.  Monsoon season is approaching and she has no place to go.
